Gum Bichromate combinations

Gum bichromate (or dichromate) printing is made up of three components. Watercolour pigments, gum Arabic and dichromate (light sensitive).  Almost any colour can be used, or a combination of colours in successive printings to achieve different effects.  Each layer can be manipulated with brushes, and some layers can be made in other processes such as cyanotype, vandyke or platinum. The resulting images often have a painterly quality and an appealing delicacy. As with many other non silver processes, the image is the same size as the negative and each image is a unique production.
